After Liturgy, MMACC member, Katherine Hoyt will speak about her book Unequal Encounters: A Reader in Early Latin American Political Thought recently released in paperback. It will be a hybrid event, using the same Zoom link as for liturgy. Kathy will present a PowerPointon the book, which highlights the contribution of indigenous writers while also including writings by Spanish friars on natural law which give us a preview of modern human rights philosophy. Hoyt holds a Ph.D. in political theory from Rutgers University. Her work is informed by eighteen years living in Latin America and many years of non-profit education and advocacy work in the United States on Latin American issues. Books will be available for purchase. Refreshments will be offered.
