Our mission

A new way to be Roman Catholic
…making Catholicism relevant
…restoring women’s ordination
…living the change we envision

Mary Magdalene Apostle Catholic Community was founded and convened by a Roman Catholic woman priest (Jane Via)  and a Roman Catholic priest (Rod Stephens). Our mission is to:

  • Welcome all and affirm and promote the full equality of women, men and people of all genders in a transformed Church and world.
  • Practice radical inclusivity in worship, ministry and language, reaching out to those who feel marginalized by the traditional church.
  • Honor our Roman Catholic heritage and respond to the prophetic call of the Holy Spirit.
  • Dedicate ourselves to loving one another in community and in the world by living Gospel values of compassion, peace, respect, and social justice as exemplified by Jesus the Christ.
  • Create a new model of church community as a discipleship of equals with democratic, transparent and accountable governance.
  • Be mindful of our communion with all God’s creation, caring for the earth and practicing environmental responsibility.
