Social action & Justice

At Mary Magdalene, we believe that social action & justice is an essential part of our faith. Our members are involved in everything from protest marches for equality, collecting donations for those who are less fortunate, partnering with orphanages in Tijuana, and advocating for justice. All are welcome to join in any of our actions.

In this time of pandemic, our social justice work has taken a slightly different form, but we invite you  to  join us:

  • Anti-Racism Book Study Project -  Beginning in September 2020, our community began an in-depth study of How to be an Anti-Racist by Ibram X. Kendi. We meet the 1st  and 3rd Tuesday of every month and welcome new members. More information here
  • Serra Mesa Food Pantry - We  have an ongoing commitment to  support the Serra Mesa Food Pantry in San Diego.
  • Christmas/Advent Project - Our 2020 Christmas/Advent Project for MMACC is to provide gifts for the Los Angelitos (Little Angels) orphanage in Tijuana. This project is organized by Corazon de Vida, whom we've worked with for several years. Due to Covid, the easiest way to participate is by online shopping.
